Community Action’s Home Weatherization program provides weatherization services to save energy and lower utility bills for those meeting the low-income guidelines below.

Weatherization services may include attic/wall insulation, caulking, refrigerator replacement, venting, weather-stripping, glass replacement, door repair/replacement, minor roof and foundation repair.

Minor Home Repair

Provides minor home repair for low-income homeowners 60 years of age and older in Calhoun County.

Offers minor home repair services for health and safety issues to help seniors stay safely in their homes, including items for handicap accessibility if needed.

This program is funded by Senior Millage for Minor Home Repair in Calhoun County.


Low-income homeowners in Calhoun County that are 60 years of age and older are eligible for this program. Property taxes and homeowner’s insurance must be current, and proof of income for all household members must be reviewed.

Lead Safe

The CHIP Lead Hazard Control Community Development Grant is administered by Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and a partnership with the Calhoun County Lead Task Force and the City of Battle Creek. It targets Medicaid enrolled Children 6 years and under or expectant mothers who reside in a home in Calhoun County where hazardous lead exposure exist and where occupant elevated lead blood levels are present.
