The services we provide to individuals and families in our four-county service area are designed to improve their lives. We developed several new programs to meet the needs in the Community in 2017. We were awarded The CHIP Lead Hazard Control Community Development Grant in partnership with the Calhoun County Lead Task Force, and the City of Battle Creek. This program that serves Medicaid enrolled Children 6 years and under or expecting mothers who reside in a home in Calhoun County where a hazardous lead exposure hazard exists and where occupant elevated lead blood levels are present. In October we rolled out our GED program in partnership with Battle Creek Public Schools, providing tutoring to students to match their skill level. Tutoring options include classroom sessions, one-on-one tutoring, and online preparation. We had 8 graduates who received their credential this year and anticipate much success in the upcoming year. We also started offering Financial Empowerment sessions covering topics such as basic budgeting, creating financial goals, debt savings plan, and credit coaching.

None of these things would be possible without the support of our partners. Thank you for supporting Community Action during 2017. We look forward to the next year of partnership and continued support.
