Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Taxdocuments

Community Action's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a free program for low- to moderate-income working families to make them aware of Federal and Michigan tax credits, and to assist them in receiving their credits and refunds without fees or interest.

Community Action ’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is preparing for another season of giving free help to low- to moderate-income people filing their Federal and Michigan income taxes. For families living on tight budgets, it is now more important than ever to have access to free tax services and the opportunity to take advantage of tax benefits, like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), while avoiding high fees charged by paid preparers and refund anticipation loans. The EITC and other tax credits have helped millions of Americans make the transition from public assistance to economic independence. For more information on the EITC, please visit www.youearnedit.org.
